1959 World Series Game 7: Milwaukee Wins the World Series!

 October 9, 1959

The Milwaukee Braves are the 1959 World Series Champions! Milwaukee did the impossible, coming back from 3 games down in the Series and then winning 4 in a row. They came from behind in the 9th inning of Game 5 to stay alive, won Game 6 handily, then came back from a 4-0 deficit in Game 7 to win it all.
Warren Spahn got the start for Milwaukee. Jim Perry got the start for Cleveland. The Indian's Vic Power homered off of Spahn in the bottom of the 1st for a 1-0 Cleveland lead. In the 3rd inning Spahn gave up back-to-back homers. A 2-run shot by Minnie Minoso followed by a solo blast from Rocky Colavito giving Cleveland a 4-0 lead. Milwaukee scored a run in the 5th and the game went into the 7th inning with the Indians holding a 4-1 lead.
In the top of the 7th Milwaukee got 3 straight singles from Lee Maye, Del Crandall and Felix Mantilla scoring a run. Now 4-2, Frank Torre pinch hit for Spahn and that was all for Perry. Joe Gordon brought in lefty Don Ferrarese to pitch to him but Fred Haney replaced Torre with Bobby Avila. Avila grounded out moving the runners up to 2nd and 3rd. Bobby Locke replaced Ferrarese on the mound and he hit pinch-hitter Andy Pafko. Johnny Logan came up next and he delivered a 2-run single tying the game up at 4-4. Eddie Mathews reached on an error to load the bases again. Gordon decided to stick with Locke with Hank Aaron coming up. Aaron hit a medium deep flyball to Minoso in left and after making the catch, Minoso threw Pafko out at the plate for a double play. But the score was now tied 4-4.
In the top of the 8th, Milwaukee scratched out a run on a hit, walk and SacFly by Del Crandall for a 5-4 lead. Cleveland failed to score in the bottom of the 8th. In the top of the 9th Johnny Logan connected for a solo homer and after an out, Aaron smashed a solo shot for a commanding 7-4 Milwaukee lead.
Don McMahon came in to pitch the bottom of the 9th for the Braves. He gave up a single before getting the final out of a 7-4 victory and a World Series Championship for Milwaukee.
