1959 NL Game: St. Loius @ Cin.

 August 21, 1959

  The Cincinnati Reds exploded for 11 runs in the 1st inning and went on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 14-1. The Reds sent 17 men to the plate in the bottom of the 1st. They got all 14 runs in the game without the aid of a homerun.

Frank Robinson had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Jay Hook had a complete game as
the Cincinnati Reds ballclub embarrassed the St. Louis Cardinals by the count
of 14 to 1.
 
St. Louis found themselves trailing quickly as the Cincinnati bats came
through in the first inning when they exploded for 11 runs on 12 hits.  The
early run support proved sufficient for Hook(3-3) and Cincinnati.  That was
all the run support Hook required.  Cincinnati had a total of 17 hits for the
game.  
 
Larry Jackson(11-12) took the loss.  He surrendered 6 hits and no walks in 2/3
of an inning.
