September 10. 1959
LA's Roger Craig pitched the first no-hitter in the NL this season as the Dodgers defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7-0. If not for a walk issued in the 3rd inning, Craig would have had a perfect game.

Roger Craig(10-3) was on top of his game in Los Angeles as he tossed a beauty
of a no-hitter against the hopeless Philadelphia Phillies. The Los Angeles
Dodgers won by a score of 7 to 0.
Craig was spectacular. He had excellent control, walking only one. The
tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd
was electrified. Los Angeles totaled 13 hits on the night.
Don Cardwell(4-12) was the losing pitcher. He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits
and 4 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Craig was in a jubilant mood after the
game. 'If I'd known I was going to throw a no hitter I would have gotten a
haircut!' he said, much to the delight of the clubhouse gathering.
