1959 Detroit Tigers hire new manager today

 May 3, 1959

   It was announced after their game last night, Detroit Tiger manager Bill Norman was stepping down from his position for health reasons. Jimmy Dykes has been named the new manager of the Tigers. He'll be tested early as the Tigers have a doubleheader today against the New York Yankees.
(In actuality, Norman was fired on this date for the team's 2-15 start to the 1959 season. The Tigers are playing well in my replay, so I decided to let him go for health reasons)
