Frank Lary recorded a complete game shutout and Charlie Maxwell rocketed 3
homeruns at Briggs Stadium as the Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Red Sox 9 to
0.

Maxwell enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He clubbed a two-run home run
in the 1st inning, blasted a solo shot in the 6th inning and emptied the
bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning. Detroit managed 9 hits in
their victory.

Lary(3-2) was credited with the shutout. The loss was charged to Ike
Delock(0-4). He gave up 5 runs and 5 hits in 6 innings.

'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Maxwell said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting
you out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'
