1959 NL Standings and League Leaders

 May 15, 1959

Halfway through the month of May and the Milwaukee Braves are still in 1st place. After a torrid start (12-1) to the season, the Braves have cooled off a bit this month (8-6). The San Francisco Giants are in 2nd place, 3.5 GB the league leaders. The 3rd place LA Dodgers (17-15) are the only other NL team above .500.
Milwaukee's Hank Aaron leads the league in BA(.425), HR(10), and RBI(32). Cincinati's Frank Robinson is in the top 5 of those 3 categories. Aaron's teammate's, pitchers Lew Burdette (6-2) and Warren Spahn (6-0), are off to great starts. The Dodger's Don Drysdale (7-2, 2-06 ERA, 55 K) has been the top pitcher overall in the NL.
