The Phillies Wally Post really went off at the plate today. He smacked 3 homers, the last one a 3-run shot in the 9th to win it for Philadelphia. Post had 6 RBI in the game. He is the 3rd player to homer 3 times in a game this season in the NL. Chicago's Ernie Banks has done it twice and Eddie Mathews did it for Milwaukee.

Right fielder Wally Post smacked 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI at Shibe Park as the
Philadelphia Phillies won a thriller over the Los Angeles Dodgers in, 7 to
4.
Philadelphia had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 3 runs on 2 base
hits. Carl Sawatski led off the inning for Philadelphia when he ripped a
base-knock. Richie Ashburn was next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Sparky Anderson was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Ed
Bouchee followed and he drew a walk. Post came up to bat and lofted a
three-run bomb making Philadelphia the victor and beginning a joyous home
town celebration. Philadelphia won despite being out-hit by Los Angeles 11
hits to 6.
The winning pitcher was Taylor Phillips(2-3) who allowed 1 run in 3 innings.
Chuck Churn(0-1) took the loss in relief. 'I had a big day, but there's a
lot of credit to go around' Post said. 'We played well together as a team.'
