1959 NL Game: Mil. @ St. Louis

 August 25, 1959

  Milwaukee's Warren Spahn became the 1st 20 game winner in MLB this season with a 10-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Braves scored a run in the 1st inning and 4 in the 3rd, allowing Spahn to go into cruise control for the rest of the game. It was Spahn's 19th complete game of the season, 2nd most in the NL (Pitt. Vern Law has 20).

Warren Spahn pitched a complete game and third baseman Eddie Mathews slammed a
homerun and had 2 RBI as the very strong Milwaukee Braves defeated the
hapless St. Louis Cardinals 10 to 1 at Busch Stadium.
 
Spahn(20-5) was solid in the win.  He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings.  Milwaukee banged out 13 hits on the night.  
 
Bob Gibson(0-4) was given the loss.  He was touched for 11 hits and 5 walks in
8 innings.
