Detroit's Paul Foytack pitched the team's finest game this season defeating the Washington Senators 1-0. Foytack went the distance throwing a 1-hitter for his 14th Win of the year. Paul took a no-hitter into the 8th inning before Ken Aspromonte singled off him. He walked 2 and struck out 8.
The Senator's Pedro Ramos pitched a fine game himself, allowing only 4 hits, but one was Lou Berberet's 13th homerun of the season. The only run of the game. With the victory, Detroit stays 1.5 GB the 1st place Cleveland Indians.

Paul Foytack took a no-hitter into the 8th inning as the Detroit Tigers
defeated the Washington Senators by the score of 1 to 0 at Briggs
Stadium.
Foytack(14-10) was simply too much for the Washington batters. He surrendered
only 1 hit and 2 walks in 9 innings. The right-handed Foytack had his no-hit
bid broken up by Ken Aspromonte who singled with nobody out in the 8th
inning. Detroit had only 4 hits for the night.
Pedro Ramos(10-17) absorbed the loss. He pitched 8 innings and surrendered
just 4 hits and 1 walk. 'All of my pitches were working tonight,' Foytack
said. 'I felt really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone
longer.'
