Maxwell was in a groove all day. The Boston fans hated to see him approaching
the batter's box. He doubled which was good for two runs in the 1st inning,
blasted a two-run home run in the 5th inning, doubled plating three runs in
the 6th inning and smacked a single which plated a run in the 8th inning.
Detroit had 14 hits for the game and Boston had 8.

Jim Bunning(5-2) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Frank
Sullivan(3-1) took the loss. He was unable to control the Detroit offense
and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.

Maxwell was jubilant after the game 'Let me see a box-score' he joked, 'I want
to see how that game looks on paper.'
