The Detroit Tigers battered the Boston Red Sox 10-4 today. Charlie Maxwell had a great day at the plate for the Tigers going 4 for 5 with 8 RBI. Charlie had 7 RBI in a game earlier this season, which had been the most in any game in MLB this year. With the Win, Detroit moves back into 1st place in the league.

Maxwell was in a groove all day. The Boston fans hated to see him approaching the batter's box. He doubled which was good for two runs in the 1st inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 5th inning, doubled plating three runs in the 6th inning and smacked a single which plated a run in the 8th inning. Detroit had 14 hits for the game and Boston had 8. Jim Bunning(5-2) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Frank Sullivan(3-1) took the loss. He was unable to control the Detroit offense and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
