1959 AL Game: Det. @ Was.

 June 21, 1959

After Jim Bunning set a season strikeout record during a pitching duel in the first game of a doubleheader, the Detroit Tigers set the season high for most runs in a game this year by beating the Washington Senators 21-4 in the 2nd game.
Detroit scored 5 runs in the 1st inning and they were off and running. Their 24 hits set another high for most hits in a game this year. Every player in the Tigers lineup contributed to the beating on the Senators pitching. Charlie Maxwell hit his AL leading 23rd homerun and his 5 RBI gave him a league leading 68 on the season. Detroit hit 2 grand-slams in the game. One by Maxwell in the 1st and one by Ted Lepcio in the 9th, his 1st homerun of the year.
