1959 AL Game: Chi. @ Det.

 April 11, 1959

The 2nd game of the season in Detroit was one that the Tigers just couldn't put away. The game started with the Chicago White Sox jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead. But Detroit came storming back in the bottom of the 2nd by scoring 6 runs and chasing Chicago starter Early Wynn from the mound. The White Sox tied the game at 6 in the 5th inning before Al Kaline gave Detroit the lead again with a solo homerun in the 7th. With a 7-6 lead now, Tiger manager Bill Norman stuck with starter Paul Foytack too long and paid the price. The White Sox put a 3 spot on the board in the 8th and held on for a 9-7 victory. Detroit is now 1-1 on the season.
