Third baseman Woodie Held slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Cleveland
Indians defeated the Detroit Tigers by the score of 12 to 11 at Cleveland
Stadium.

Held really 'lit it up' for Cleveland. He banged out a single which scored a
run in the 1st inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 7th
inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 8th inning. A wild and woolly
affair, this game saw the lead change 6 times.

The victory was credited to Jim Perry(1-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Tom Morgan(0-2) was charged with the loss in relief. He was
knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings.
