1959 NL Game: Mil. @ Cin.

 April 25, 1959

   The Milwaukee Braves extended their winning streak to 8 games by pounding the Cincinnati Reds today 16-5. The 16 runs scored are the most in 1 game for any team so far in MLB. Warren Spahn Won his 4th game of the season in a less than stellar performance.

Warren Spahn completed the game without help from the bullpen and left fielder
Wes Covington hit one over the fence and had 4 RBI at Crosley Field as the
streaking Milwaukee Braves belted the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 16 to
5.
 
Covington enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He delivered a base-hit plating a
run in the 7th inning and lofted a three-run bomb in the 9th inning.
Milwaukee provided plenty of action in the 6th inning with 4 runs on 3 hits
and the 9th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 4 hits.  Milwaukee finished
with 20 hits in the victory.  
 
The winning pitcher was Spahn(4-0) who allowed 5 runs for the game. Bob
Purkey(0-3) was hit with the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 11
runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.  
 
In another of a string of victories, Milwaukee extended their winning streak
to 8 games.
