1959 AL Standings and League Leaders

 June 15, 1959

  Halfway through the month of June in the 1959 AL season finds the Detroit Tigers back in 1st place. They hold a lead of 1.5 games over the Cleveland Indians who were in 1st at the beginning of June. The New York Yankees have climbed into 3rd place while the Chicago White Sox have gone on a league best 11-3 roll here in June to move into 4th place, 7.5 games behind Detroit. The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles have gone on a tailspin in June.
  Al Kaline (.367, 13, 57), Charlie Maxwell (.277, 19, 55) and Harvey Kuenn (.322) have led the Tiger offense and starters Don Mossi (7-2, 1.70), Jim Bunning (7-5), and Frank Lary (8-4, 2.64) have led the pitching staff. 
  Other top performers around the league are Cleveland's Rocky Colavito (19 HR, 49 RBI), Chicago's Early Wynn (9-4, 2.62), New York's Art Dimar (7-3, 1.94) and the Washington Senator's bashing duo Harmon Killebrew (17, 41) and Bob Allison (19, 34).
